Name: Liam Delahoy
Position: Commis Chef at Torquay
Joined Company: 2014
I have worked here at Le Bistrot Pierre in Torquay since it opened the summer of 2014. It’s a really busy restaurant and in a great location. Before I joined I worked as a waiter in a holiday park in Paignton; so it was a big change moving from front of house to the kitchen, although I had some previous kitchen experience.
I originally was offered a job as a kitchen porter and within a week was promoted to Commis Chef, so I must have made a good impression!
We have a big kitchen team and I have learnt a lot from the chefs; there is always something new to learn. All my training has been done here in Torquay; it’s very hands on and I like the diversity of the job, and especially working with the fresh produce we use in all our kitchens.
The bistrot is really busy in the summer, as you would expect, as we have a lot of summer visitors to the area. It does go a bit quieter in the winter, but Christmas is a really busy time here so it’s not quiet for long!
I live locally and in my spare time I like spending time with my girlfriend and going to the cinema.
We had a lovely experience. We took our 8 month old Granddaughter and we were well catered for And made feel very welcome. We will return.Janet Warren via online feedback
